Artists of West Vancouver

November 24, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

A Survey of Significant Artists from the West Vancouver Community

The Kay Meek Centre in partnership with The West Vancouver Art Museum presents an in-person and live-streaming event celebrating artists of West Vancouver.

West Vancouver has long been home to many important Canadian artists and creatives. West Vancouver in the 1960s was home to important Canadian artists such as Gordon Smith, B.C. Binning, and Alistair Bell, among many others. These artists sought to celebrate the community’s stunning natural landscape and the intersections occurring between art and design. These earlier generations of modernist artists have encouraged and taught younger generations of artists, some of whom continue to call West Vancouver home.  Our community of artists has been amplified further by those who have moved here, some from other parts of Canada and even internationally. In this talk, we will explore the ways in which these multiple generations of artists have shaped West Vancouver.
